28 Life Lessons I Learnt Adulting Into My 40's

(Just between me and you).......  I’ll never admit to my parents that what they said about growing up, older and wiser was right but what they said about growing up, older and wiser was kinda right and I hate them for it!

Don’t get me wrong, I loved my younger years it was all about the party but here now is where I feel most confident and content. I'll be 28 for the 12th time this year so as the big 40 is looming let me tell you the 28 life lessons I've learnt adulting into my 40's.

  1. Try to never end a relationship in hate. My dad passed away a couple of years ago and I never got the change to make peace with him before he left. He wasn’t the greatest of dads and I wasn’t the best of son's but we could of made our peace with each other before he left.

  1. You can be the richest man in the world and a saint but there will always be people that think you're a failure and crackpot.

Really rich

  1. We are all just as messed up as each other and that’s OK.  Life is really weird sometimes and complicated a lot of the time.

  1. It’s OK to say no and it's doesn't mean you're selfish and horrible.

It's ok to say no

  1. It’s your life but it's not all about you.

  1. We become what we surround ourselves with so chose your friends carefully.

  1. Keep the good ones around and let the bad ones drift away.

  1. We might not be able to stop unwanted thoughts popping into our heads but we can choose what to focus our attention on.

  1. Make your own up rules in life. Don't ever think you should be anything but yourself. As long as your not hurting anyone, then you do you!

  1. It seems that it's only the rich you hear saying money isn't everything and although they're right being poor isn't a walk in the park either.

being poor sucks

  1. Find your calling and go for it. Strive to be the best version of yourself, whatever that may be. some of us are designed to work in a office, others are just happy flipping burgers going home and spending time with their family. What ever your values are and life goals, big or small then go for them.

  1. I may not know the question sometimes but I know the answer is Love. It is the single thing that runs through every part of our life it's just we all have a different opinion on what love is. .

love

  1. I don't know what happens after we die but I do know the ones who love us will miss us ( I learnt that off Keauna Reeves)

  1. Lead by example.

  1. What we hate in others is often what we hate in ourselves

  2. Enjoy the journey

  3. It's a horrible thing to have to admit but bad things happen to good people and unfortunately good things happen to bad people. It's the way life is sometimes.

  1. It’s healthy to have a questioning mind. Don’t just accept hings because people tell you.

question everything

  1. Putting yourself first sometimes is not selfish. We all need a bit of self care to make sure we're doing OK.

  1. Fake it till you can make it

  1. Failure is good  There’s great lessons to be learnt from failing

  1. Try not to judge

  1. You're more capable than you think you are

  2. There's no shame in not knowing

  3. It's nice to be nice and it doesn't take a lot of effort.

  5. Life is short so Party HARD, love, live, learn, fail (lots), grow and carve your own path…. OWN IT AND ENJOY THAT SHIT.
